Brittany Farrugia (CNYELC 2003) just wrapped up her fourth year of playing Division 1 lacrosse in the MAAC Conference at Canisius College in Buffalo. Brittany is graduating with a degree in Bio-Chemistry and will be attending the University of Maryland this fall to continue her studies in pharmacy.
Stony Brook University, New York: The American East Conference has announced their 2007 All-League awards recently for their Division One Women‚s Lacrosse Conference. Jenna Spenard, a 2004 graduate of Cicero-North Syracuse High School, was selected for First-Team All League honors. Jenna, a junior at Stony Brook University, is a top defender for the 14-3 Stony Brook Seawolves and anchored the Seawolves defense this season. An All-Rookie and Second Team pick in 2006, Spenard appeared in all 16 games on the close defense for SB, picking up 17 ground balls and causing nine turnovers.
UPDATE: Jenna just completed her last lax season with Stony Brook University and was named to the American East All-League team for the 4th consecutive year. Jenna played a 5th season as she was red-shirted her freshman year (mononucleosis). Jenna also racked up the most games played for Stony Brook at 68 games and started every game she played. Jenna will complete her MBA at Stony Brook next spring and looking to be a graduate assistant wtih the Seawolves. Jenna is now coaching for the Long Island Yellow Jackets and will be coming to the Star Spangled Banner tournament in July.
Lauren Walsh, CNYELC-2004 is now in her third season of playing of playing Division 1 lacrosse at Canisius College. This season she was selected as of the team's captains. Caitlin Leone played at Hobart and William Smith last year. Kim Winslow is a transfer at Brockport from Cayuga
Community College and will be playing this year. Shannon Lattimore is playing this year at Nazareth College.
Alumni Update - Stony Brook University. The America East Conference announced its post-season awards for its Division 1 Women’s Lacrosse conference last week. Jenna Spenard was named to the All-League Team (2nd team)and to the All-Rookie Team. Jenna is a red-shirt freshman defender who started all 17 games for the Stony Brook Seawolves. Stony Brook had three scholarship players from CNYELC / Cicero-North Syracuse High School on their roster this year, Jenna Spenard (class of 2004), Jill Gridley (class of 2002) and Kim Quartier (class of 2005). The team place 3rd in the Conference, making the league playoffs for the first time. Unfortunately, they fell to Boston University in the semi-finals.
